Bryan Patrick Gibbs is an American film director and screenwriter from Lincoln Park, Michigan.
He has directed 4 feature films: Kindness for Weakness (2018) The Social Worker (2023), Lost in Spain (2025), and Sros Lords: Slimernetic Punk! (2027).
In 2025, Gibbs released Mike Fields: The Roommates Retrospective (2025), a four-part docuseries where he interviews cast and crew members from his uncle's films.
Gibbs' fifth film, The Mansfield Killings, is an adaptation of the book published by his grandfather, and is currently in pre-production, scheduled for an October 2028 release.

Early life and background
Bryan Gibbs was born April 19, 1997, in Wyandotte, Michigan. His parents, John Patrick Gibbs and Angela Jean Fields, owned a ranch-style house in Lincoln Park, in the metro-Detroit area, but he attended grade school in Riverview, where he was voted as the class book worm. Bryan has a sister, two years his junior, named Rachel Ann. At the age of 22, Bryan learned that he has a half-sister named Misty, two years his senior. From a DNA test, it was revealed that Bryan is a long, distant relative of classical pianist Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Coming from an artistic family, his mother Angela drew wildlife illustrations, influencing him to practice drawing and storyboarding. He would attempt to draw characters from cartoons such as Ed, Edd, & Eddy or The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
Bryan's grandma Donna would burn movies onto DVD's, sometimes of poor quality or with the ending missing, and Bryan would watch them in the basement.
Gibbs' grandfather, Scott Fields, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1967. He is a published author known for The Mansfield Killings, a book which will soon be turned into a feature length film. Bryan took a significant interest in film and art due to time spent with his uncle Michael S. Fields, who is also a published author and film director. They would spend hours together playing video games and writing at Hookah bars. His uncle started a YouTube channel in 2008 called MFields2178. This inspired Bryan.
From 2012-2016 Bryan and his cousin Justin Swift ran a comedic YouTube channel called BryanisJustinsaneTV. They vlogged, wrote and recorded sketches and amassed thousands of views.
In his senior year of high school, Gibbs played a small speaking role in the play Bang Bang, You're Dead!
Bryan followed in his grandfather's footsteps and enjoyed playing and watching a lot of baseball. In one event, Bryan's whole family, including his Grandpa Scott, got to watch him pitch 3 innings in a game, striking out four. However, he did not make the Junior Varsity team, so he followed his uncle's path of filmmaking instead.
Career
In 2017, Gibbs, alongside his uncle Mike Fields, wrote and directed his first feature length film Kindness for Weakness. Together, they founded the film production company Arcadia Films. Their movie premiered at Emagine Theaters in Canton, Michigan in the summer of 2018. The show sold out twice, even after upgrading the theater. They cut a promo for the film with Emagine Chairman Paul Glantz. They went on to submit the film to the Ann Arbor Film Festival, with a DVD/Blu-ray release on Amazon.
In early 2019, Gibbs was the Sound Recordist for a short film titled In an Instant. He would also do Sound Recordist work in short films Gorilla Hands and Realize.
For 2 months, Bryan got a 2nd job at the movie theater AMC, where he got to watch movies and take home posters for free.
In May of 2019, Gibbs graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor's degree in film. He then began developing his second feature film The Social Worker, once again collaborating with lead actor Jeremy Francois. This time, his production company went by the name of Papaya Planet.
While his first film was a raunchy comedy, The Social Worker is a suspense drama. Production began in the spring of 2020 and wrapped in December of 2021. Gibbs did an interview on the film with host David Thompson on his YouTube page: Reel Actors Real Answers.
On December 30, 2021, Gibbs made his standup comedy debut at Joe's Hamburgers in Wyandotte, Michigan. He did 5 minutes as the closing comic. You can listen to it here.
Gibbs was the Sound Recordist on a short film titled Vermillion (2022) directed by Rebekah Nichilo. and a day of production on The Violets (2022) directed by Milsa Wheeler.
On November 5th, 2023, Gibbs' second feature film The Social Worker was released to a premiere at MJR Southgate, a theater where he watched hundreds of films growing up.

In December of 2024, Gibbs was a guest speaker for a college class where their final project was to screen his film, The Social Worker and deep dive into a character analysis. After that, Gibbs drove across the country from Michigan to California and spent 2 months exploring LA and the west Hollywood area.
By spring of 2025, Bryan realized what his third feature film would be, an adaptation of a book published by his grandfather, Scott Fields. The next film would be: The Mansfield Killings.

Bryan makes a cameo appearance in the 2025 documentary Lost in Spain, swinging on the swing set with his uncle while on vacation in Spain. Bryan also is credited as the editor of the documentary.
On November 23, 2025, Gibbs released a 4-part docuseries called Mike Fields: The Roommates Retrospective, where he interviews cast and crew members from his uncle's films such as The Roommates (2004) and Loser's Anonymous (2008).
